My Work
I currently work as a Head and Neck Cancer Specialist Physiotherapist at the Churchill in Oxford and I have also set up an outpatient service privately in Cheltenham for all cancer groups. I am incredibly passionate about my work and about educating the public and health care professionals about the difference that physiotherapy, and other allied health professionals, can make to the lives of those living with and beyond a cancer diagnosis. My aim in life is to provide a smooth pathway from diagnosis that facilitates people to not just survive but thrive too in a holistic manner.
I have in the past set up an outpatient service for those living with and beyond a cancer diagnosis in Reading which proved to be very rewarding and successful. I have also updated the literature for people having breast reconstructions following cancer treatments with Cancer Research UK and I secured money through Macmillan for an integrated combined physiotherapy and psychology group for ladies following breast cancer.
I am always looking for ways to improve the care that we provide and in doing so have embarked on a Masters in Clinical Leadership in Cancer, Palliative care and End of Life at Southampton University (2013). My first assignment has led me to investigate the Shoulder Dysfunction following Head and Neck Cancer Surgery.
My next project is to develop an educational website for patients and health care professionals about the common problems that people encounter and how we can improve them through physiotherapy. This is currently under construction.
